Big Mark sent in these exciting pics of his 21' Connelly Craft hull. Big Mark has dropped in a 496 c.i. Chevrolet engine, which features twin turbo chargers, and fuel injection among lots of other high power goodies, I imagine. The 1500 horsepower is connected to a turbo 400 transmission with second and high gear only and to the water via a Mercruiser sterndrive. The Connelly Craft "Mirage" is a ski racing boat. Big Mark tells us that it is the winner outright of the 2000 Sydney Bridge to Bridge water ski classic, plus the first team to tow an international skier to an outright win in this race..(Todd Haig U.S.A.) other skier was Steven Rowe from Victoria (Australia) driver owner Brad Gallard (South Australia) and observer Tim Whetstone (South Australia.) The the 113 kilometre race was completed in a time of 40min.44sec which was an amazing average speed of over 100 m.p.h. The speed recorded by radar gun at the half way point (Wisemans Ferry) was 121m.p.h. pulling two skiers! This boat has won numerous other races but none as big as the Bridge to Bridge. Big Mark tells us that is "the ducks guts" and everyone involved in skiing in the world knows that race! Thanks for the fabulous pictures Big Mark.
